Teacher Checkout

Library Books

Using Library Search, teachers* can search for books throughout the district and if there is a book that they would like to check out, can do so by placing a hold on the book.

​Holds for books that belong to other libraries** are called Inter Library Loans (ILLs) and may be approved or denied by the lending library at their discretion.***

These books are for teacher use only.

*Teachers at all sites other than A3 and Brattain Campus. These schools do not have school libraries that are managed through the Destiny library system.
**These books were paid for by school funds (some schools do not have any funding designated to annual library book purchases), grants, PTO, etc. and are for use by that school's patrons.
***Library staff take into consideration how often the library books are used by their students/staff, book condition, history of off site checkouts, current workload, etc. If all of those things are favorable to them, they may approve the ILL.

Textbooks

Using Resource Search, secondary teachers can search for textbooks that are used in our district - this includes novel sets.

If a textbook, that is appropriate for the level, is needed at another school, the teacher can speak with their school library staff about having the books transferred to the school for check out to students. This is generally doable; however if the school is planning to use the books during the requested time, the request may be denied.

Student Checkout

Students may only check out library books from their own school library.

The only books that will be checked out to students are:

1. Library books from the student's school library;

2. Novel sets/Textbooks from the student's school library or those that have been transferred from another library.

Books that are checked out to a teacher should never be sent home with a student.

Need Additional Books?

If you don't have access to the books that you need at your school library, provide input to your administrator and library staff regarding future library or novel set purchases.
