Capp’s 7th Grade Life Science Syllabus
Course Description
Life Science is the study of living things and how they interact with each other and their environment. In this class, students will explore topics such as cells, genetics, human body systems, plants, classification of organisms, ecology, and change over time. Hands-on labs, projects, and interactive activities will help students connect science concepts to the real world.
Course Goals
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
Use the scientific method to design and carry out experiments.
Understand the structure and function of cells and body systems.
Explain heredity and the role of DNA in inheritance.
Classify organisms based on shared characteristics.
Analyze ecosystems and the relationships between organisms.
Curriculum: SAVVAS Elevate Science and using a variety of resources
Materials Required: Pencil, Paper, Composition Notebooks, Folder, Laptops, Good attitudes
Grading Breakdown: SMS grading scale will be used. Grades are based on daily assignments, groupwork, tests and labs. Students should show pride and integrity in their own work by making every attempt to complete all assignments. Tests are 60% and regular work is 40%.
Attitude: I encourage positive attitudes 24/7, as it makes school so much better.
Attendance: Regular attendance is important to being successful in school. If you know you will be gone, let me know beforehand and I will work with you to get the work assigned prior to the absence.
Communication: Please sign up for my REMIND and I am also available through the email. I will send out ongoing REMINDS and emails to let you know about upcoming tests, field trips and etc.
