Curriculum/Textbook Information
I primarily use the Take Charge Today curriculum developed by The University of Arizona. This is a research-based curriculum, relying on current research to design lesson plans and instructional materials that empower youth to make better financial choices. In addition, we will be going through the NEFE High School Financial Planning Program® (HSFPP), a nationally known money management program for teens that has been used with millions of students since it was created in 1984. In addition to the Take Charge and NEFE programs, the students will use a variety of resources and tools to practice the skills necessary for each of the topics mentioned above. The course materials are available by accessing Moodle.
Daily Assignments: Daily assignments include journal writing, “warm up” activities, participation in classroom discussions, and worksheets designed to help practice skills and concepts in each unit.
Assessments: Students will be assessed through the completion of projects and a unit quiz. There is also a midterm exam at the end of the quarter and a final exam at the end of the semester.
