Back To School Letter

Welcome to Mr. Singer's Social Studies class for 2019-2020,

I am looking forward to a great year! I began my career teaching social studies and it is my favorite subject!! 7th grade social studies focuses on Geography; Map skills, Themes of geography, and components of Culture. We will be learning about the World!!!

I have high expectations for my students, and my classroom. Spearfish Middle School has SPARTAN PRIDE! The students and staff all follow our PRIDE Expectations. They are as Follows:

As a community of learners we hold these values dearly and our goal as teachers is to instill these characteristics in all students. Our behavior expectations, homework expectations, and school expectations ALL align with SPARTAN PRIDE!

Our textbooks are available for check out at any time and you can find all the information online in the Geography link on my webpage on the middle school site.

All students will need to have a PURPLE binder and a composition book for notes for Social Studies. See the supply list on my webpage.

Assignments and due dates will be posted on the Lesson Plans tab of my webpage, and on the board in class. These dates are subject to change and the dates on the board will take precedence. Students will need to write down assignments and dates in their notebooks. Part of Spartan PRIDE is having your work completed on time. Unexcused late work will be penalized, so get assignments in on time!

I am sure you will enjoy this class and learn lots about the world. Our class is more fun and educational when the students are participating and engaging in what they are learning. Please make sure to leave Cell Phones at home or in the phone caddies in each room. We will NOT be using phones in class, since all students have a computer. PLEASE have your computers with you and charged up. Classroom participation is expected, and rewarded!
