What is CSR?

Class Size Reduction Teachers (CSR) work closely with classroom teachers, reducing the student/teacher ratio and helping students become more confident, successful readers. Each teacher pushes a cart from room to room, and each cart is a portable classroom.

The CSR teaches guided reading during a classroom's literacy block, working with groups of two to five students. Students in each group read at similar levels and use corresponding reading processes. We guide the students through a book, listen to each student read, discuss different reading strategies with them, and help the students extend their reading and comprehension skills with phonics lessons and sessions of re-reading familiar texts.
