My name is Cody Powers and I could not be more excited for this new school year to get started! I am excited to meet all the new students in my class. I have a fun outlook on the fitness aspect of physical education that
will help students make goals for real life connections! I graduated from Wheatland, Wyoming in 2009 then moved to Spearfish to attend college at Black Hills State University and play football as well. I obtained my degree in physical education with minors in health and coaching from BHSU in the fall of 2015. I coach High School Football, High School Wrestling, and Middle School Track and Field.
My philosophy of education is a student-centered focus that is identified with the philosophy of progressivism and social reconstructionism. Both of these philosophies have their teaching styles centered around the student, in progressivism students are guided on their journey of learning by the teacher rather than the teacher having total control and telling the students what they will learn. I believe my role as a teacher is to guide my students to find the answers and learn the information in a more cooperative learning environment.
