Edward was born in Bellshill, Scotland, to Rev. Jonathan and Cheryl Naumann, and grew up in South Ruislip, England. In 2005 he moved to the USA and studied Greek and Latin at the Catholic University of America, Washington, DC, with emphasis on Early Christianity, and in 2010 attended seminary at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne.

In 2013 he was ordained and installed as assistant pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Oakmont, PA. In 2015 Edward was called to serve as Theological Educator to South Asia for the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, and was deployed to Colombo, Sri Lanka, where he and his family lived until 2021. After returning from Sri Lanka, Edward and his family moved back to Oakmont, PA, where he founded South Asia Lutheran Mission, a nonprofit that provides confessional Lutheran teaching and educational resources. 

Pastor Naumann accepted a Divine call in June of 2023 to become the Pastor here at St. Paul's in Brookfield, IL. He is married to Monica, a nurse practitioner. Together they have have seven children: Martin, William, Charles, Robert, Emily, Alfred and Theresa, the last three of whom were born in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
