Classroom Rules and Regulations for 8th Grade Science
Be prepared for class EVERY day – notebook, assignment pad, computer, and pencil or pen.
Raise your hand if you have any questions, comments, or confusion.
Take care of your business BEFORE class: tissues, bathroom, sharpen pencil, etc.
NO food, drinks, candy, or gum in class.
NO cell phones or listening devices (iPods, MP3 Players) in class.
You must copy the daily objective, assignment, and any notes every day.
(This must be made up if you miss class for any reason.)
Assignments will be considered late if not handed in when specifically requested.
For each three missing or late assignments, the effort grade will drop.
Grading System for 8th Grade Science
Grades are based on the following approximate point system.
Point values will vary depending on the amount of time required for completion:
Tests ~ 40- 100 points
Quizzes, Lab Reports & Labs ~ 20 – 150 points
Projects ~ 100 – 150 points (Usually one per marking period)
Current Events ~ 65 points (One per marking period)
Projects, Current Events & Lab Reports drop 10% for every day late.
Homework / Classwork ~ Will be accepted only ONE day late for 1/2 credit
Objectives and Notebook must be presented on the date specified (not accepted late).
Plagiarism (in any form) will result in a ZERO for the assignment.
Assignments and daily reminders will be posted in the classroom on a daily basis,
and additionally will be posted online on the class calendar.
The online postings should be used as BACKUP.
Effort will be based upon a percentage of completed assignments,
assignment quality, and class participation.
