Mr. McQueeney leads the instructional leadership team within the Sparta School District. Under his leadership, the team works to plan curricula updates, professional development, long-range technology plans, textbooks and resources, assessments, and data collection. Prior to becoming Assistant Superintendent, Mr. McQueeney served as a building administrator for 9 years at the elementary and high school levels. In addition, he has supervisory experiences in Science, Mathematics, Business and Related Arts and Structured Learning Experiences (SLE) and taught physics and chemistry at the high school level.

Katie Arbolino

Ms. Arbolino began her career in education in 2006. Since then she has had the opportunity to work both inside and outside of the classroom, developing math programs and professional development opportunities for colleagues. Ms. Arbolino is committed to being involved in all facets of curriculum development, standardized testing, and auditing our wide variety of programs and events. Ms. Arbolino received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education with a Mathematics Specialization in grades 5-8 from Kutztown University. In addition, she received a Master's Degree from Centenary College in Instructional Leadership.
Laura Kasa

Mrs. Kasa graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2008 with her BA in Mathematics and MA in Education. Shortly after graduating, she began her career as a High School Mathematics Teacher. Since her career began, she has had the opportunity to work both inside and outside of the classroom both on curriculum and instruction as well as a field hockey coach for many years. In 2017, she went back to school and earned her second Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Ramapo College. As the Mathematics Supervisor for grades 6-12, she is committed to working together with teachers to help everyone grow. She loves learning new strategies and bringing that information back to her colleagues. Additionally, she is dedicated to working closely with the PreK-5 Supervisor to ensure smooth transitions for students, enhance curriculum development and auditing the wide variety of programs and events at Sparta Township Public Schools.
Mary Hassenplug
Supervisor of English/Language Arts Grades 6-12

Ms. Hassenplug serves Sparta School District as the English/Language Arts Supervisor for grades 6-12. Prior to arriving at Sparta in 2011, Ms. Hassenplug taught English for 24 years at High Point Regional High School, while serving as English Department Supervisor for four years. Ms. Hassenplug is the recipient of the Princeton Prize for Distinguished Secondary School Teaching and a Fulbright Memorial Fund Scholarship to Japan. In recent years, she served on the New Jersey Department of Education Model Curriculum Development team, designing assessments based on the Common Core State Standards and PARCC text-based questions. Currently, she serves as a Mentor for the Conference on English Leadership (CEL) Emerging Leaders program. Ms. Hassenplug advocates for literacy across the curriculum, believing that students of Art, Science, Social Studies, Math, and all other disciplines need to be critical readers, writers, and thinkers in order to succeed. She encourages parents and guardians to read to and with their children to celebrate the beauty and power of words.

Scott Kercher

Mr. Kercher has over twenty years of professional experience in New Jersey Public Schools. During this time, he has served in a number of instructional and leadership capacities. These roles include: a teacher of Honors/Humanities programs, an ESL and ICS instructor, a Varsity Basketball, Baseball and Golf coach, a Mentor-Teacher, a 7-12 Department Supervisor, a Community Outreach Coordinator and a Professional Development Provider.
After graduating from The College of New Jersey in 1997 with a BA in History/Secondary Education, Mr. Kercher became a teacher and coach at Hightstown High School in East Windsor, NJ. He graduated from Rider University in 2006 with a Master’s in Educational Leadership. In 2008, he became the 7-12 Social Studies Supervisor in the Livingston Public Schools where he helped to create a Humanities program and integrated cultural programming in conjunction with the World Language Department.
Mr. Kercher firmly believes that a robust curricular program in Social Studies and World Language is critically important for the 21st century learner. It is from these experiences that students can become the empathetic and informed leaders of tomorrow.
Tara Rossi
Supervisor of English/Language Arts Grades PreK-5

Mrs. Tara Rossi began her career in the Sparta Township Public Schools, spending nearly 10 years as an educator and has now returned to the district as the PreK-5 Supervisor of English/Language Arts. Mrs. Rossi earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware, where she has acquired certifications in Elementary Education and Teacher of the Handicap. In addition, she holds a Master of Arts in Education from Marygrove College, a Supervisor certification through Centenary College, and after becoming an Orton Gillingham Reading Specialist through Fairleigh Dickinson University, she is now a certified Dyslexia Practitioner recognized by the International Dyslexia Association. Mrs. Rossi has applied this knowledge outside of the classroom as a published children’s author. She has worked closely with distinguished specialists in the field of education and was even featured for her work in the documentary called Re:Thinking, which focuses on the development of critical thinking and metacognition in the classroom. Mrs. Rossi has served as a literacy coach in Green Hills School District and also as the Coordinator of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment in Andover Regional School District. She is passionate and inspired by literacy development and by our young learners. Mrs. Rossi is committed to enhancing learning for students through authentic and engaging opportunities to explore literacy in order to navigate and understand the world around them.
Marisa Wilson
Supervisor of Science, Technology, and Engineering

In addition to being a Sparta High School alumni, Ms. Wilson has been employed by the Sparta Township School system since 2004. Prior to becoming the Supervisor of Science, Ms. Wilson taught earth and environmental science, oceanography, astronomy, and meteorology at Sparta High School. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Geoscience from Montclair State University, a Master in the Art of Teaching from Marygrove University, and a Master in Educational Leadership from Montclair State University. It is her belief that a high quality science education is important for all students from K-12. Science education helps our students become informed citizens and consumers, while also preparing them to compete globally in the rapidly expanding science-related fields. Ms. Wilson values community input and local resources to provide our students with cutting edge science curricula and field experiences for all grade levels.
