Rooted In Community

Through her volunteer work at Stone Soup, Judy Hecht noticed it was difficult for people from South Corvallis to get to food services that were mostly available on the north side of town. She was especially concerned that families with small children in the area were under-served and going hungry. To address these concerns, she opened the Tunison Food Bank in 2001 and served approximately 25 families monthly.

Growing Our Impact

Today, over 10,000 visits are made to South Corvallis Food Bank each year, with 213,000 pounds of food and basic necessities being given out to over 8,000 individuals. Our dedicated group of over 400 volunteers keep the food bank alive by hosting, restocking, collecting donations, writing grants and so much more.
