Study Hall Guidelines

STUDY HALL GUIDELINES for 2018-2019

We encourage you to utilize the resources in the Legacies Learning Commons during your Study Hall. Here are the rules students must abide by:

    • Students may utilize the Learning Commons during the study hall provided they have a signed pass. Study hall teachers will send the allotted number of students to the LLC on the group study hall pass.
    • Students from the study hall are to report directly to the Learning Commons when dismissed by their study hall teacher.
    • Students must bring their materials with them to the Learning Commons. You will not be able to go back and forth to your locker.
    • The LLC is NOT a student lounge. Students must be PURPOSEFUL when in the Learning Commons:
      • working on homework
      • selecting/returning/reading a book
      • using the student computer workstations/printing
      • collaborating quietly on a group project
      • participating in Math or Peer tutoring
      • visiting the Cafe

Quiet Study Areas

The majority of the Learning Commons is designated as a Quiet Study Area. It is meant to give students a place to concentrate without noisy distractions. Students are also often testing in this area. Loud talking is prohibited in these areas. Anyone making noise may be asked to leave.

Group Study Areas

The Library Commons also provides a Group Study Area. It is a space in which students may collaborate on projects or help each other study. Conversation is expected, but students are to keep noise levels to a minimum.

Phone Use

The LLC is an alternative learning area and phones are not to be out for use. Music apps/headphones are permitted via student phones but phones should be placed in pockets or backpacks.

    • If a member of the Learning Commons staff feels you are violating the phone policy you will be asked to return to your study hall classroom.

Non compliance to the above guidelines will result in loss of Learning Commons study hall privileges.
