Evaluate, Implement and Support Academic Technologies
- Increase accessibility through support of all faculty — learning management system, plagiarism checking system, etc.
- Evaluate, select and support new academic technologies and conferencing software to support real-time meetings of faculty and online students.
- Provide multimedia support to enhance online courses and engage students (videos, etc.).
- Explore automated alert systems for early intervention (notification if online student hasn’t logged in to class for over a week).
Faculty Development and Support (including online faculty)
Through faculty development, increase the number of faculty who are prepared to teach online
- Initiate series of online courses — local discussion and work wrapped around online workshops provided by Online Learning Consortium.
- Identify existing group of faculty who are prepared and successful at teaching online already, and build online faculty learning learning community.
- Develop series of online courses in online teaching (in collaboration with Klamath Community College) — based on topic modules that can be repurposed as stand-alone online workshops (e.g., adult learning theory for faculty new to teaching working adults).
- Include online teaching topics in Fall Instructional Institute.
Course Design for Quality (including online courses)
- Consult with faculty to design new courses which provide high quality learning environments for student success and course completion.
- Consult with faculty to redesign existing courses for hybrid, accelerated, low residency and online modes (over 15 courses scheduled for design/redesign for AY 2015-16).
- Remove barriers to degree completion (existing and future programs) - for example, through research project to design of one online lab science course and one low residency lab section — to be taught in Spring 2016.
- Explore online degree completion Psychology major.
- In consultation with faculty, develop guidelines for design and delivery of online courses (including reasonable expectations of faculty and of students).
Provide Resources for Online Students

- Collect and analyze national and local data and activities concerning online courses and programs.
- Design and facilitate institutional retreats on topics such as growing online enrollments.
