7th Grade Math and Algebra Prep

Important Sites

All assignments will be posted on the 7th Grade Team Page

You can also use the Power School portal. If you click on the assignment a description will appear. As a student, you are responsible for recording your practice assignments during class, but you can (and should) use the parent portal as a back up should you need a reminder. Keep in mind the PowerSchool for Students App has a calendar feature that can help you keep all of your assignments and due dates organized.

What if I have questions on how to do the math?

Should you have questions on your practice assignments there are several strategies you can use to get help:

  • Check your answers by looking at IXL explanation or at odd answers in the back of your textbook
  • Look back in the lesson to find and do a similar example
  • Watch the online tutorial using the book's website
  • Watch a tutorial on Khan academy or Learn Zillion
  • Use a worksheet found on the book's website
  • Call a classmate
  • Use a math instructional or game App (please avoid Apps that solve problems for you)
  • Ask your Parental Units to do the problem with you

If you have tried three of these options and are still struggling, please email Ms. Scholes to set up an appointment for extra help.

How to find Videos

To find help on any lesson, students need to do is log into the textbook, use the "menu" button in the upper left hand corner.

  • Then click on "resources". This will bring them to a page with two drop down tabs.
  • Use the first to select the chapter, and the second to select the lesson.
  • There will then be a list on the left hand side of all kinds of resources, including "tutor" which are video lessons.
  • The "Response to Intervention" are also great, those are reteaching worksheets.

I also encourage the students to use the Khan Academy or BrainPop to find videos that can help with concepts.

7th Grade Team Late Work Privacy

If an assignment is turned in one date late, it will be 10% off the score. Any assignment turned in two or more days late will be a 50% (points may be deducted if quality of work is poor.) Any assignment not handed in will remain a zero, as a teacher cannot grade assignments they do not see.
