Review of both genres: December 15
A fast, rhythmic, and playful precursor to Argentine Tango. It is danced to music with a bright, steady 2/4 time signature, characterized by its light, compact steps and a strong emphasis on the beat. Unlike the dramatic and elegant Tango, Milonga is often described as **joyful, cheeky, and grounded.
A style of Argentine tango music and dance that adapts the rhythmic and melodic feel of the European waltz to the syncopated, rhythmic essence of tango. It is characterized by its **3/4 time signature**, which creates a flowing, circular, and romantic dance experience, distinct from the more rhythmic and dramatic "walk" of traditional tango.
In lesson 3 we introduce the Parallel Cross (Traspié) with Resolution:
In lesson 2 we introduced Milonga's rhythm for Milonga Lisa (single time) which is dancing only on the 1 beat, and Milonga Traspié (double time) which involves dancing on the 1 & 2 beats.
We introduced Traspié (double time) on the 2nd Side Step (Step to Leader's Right).
Next week will include the Parallel Cross which is shown in the second video below.
In lesson we introduced Milonga's rhythm for Milonga Lisa (single time) which is dancing only on the 1 beat, and Milonga Traspié (double time) which involves dancing on the 1 & 2 beats.
Traspié (with an accent on the é) in Spanish means a stumble / misstep, a small loss of balance while walking.
We introduced the Baldosa which is like the C-Step but with a Leader's Back Step at the end. Baldosa is Spanish for Tile.
We included Traspié on different steps within the Baldosa.
