I graduated from Mount St. Mary's University in 1996 with a Bachelor's degree in Education and received my Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Notre Dame of Maryland University in 2001. This is my thirtieth year of teaching, my ninth at Saint Margaret's. My husband has been a member of the faculty for the past twenty years as the middle school librarian and now as the technology coordinator. Our daughter, Clare, is also graduate of SMS. She graduated from Notre Dame Preparatory School in 2024 and is now a sophomore at UMD. Go Terps!
In terms of my educational philosophy, I believe that each child in my room is a child of God. Therefore, teaching young minds is a task that cannot (and absolutely should not) be taken lightly. It is full of challenges, responsibilities, and yes, at times, frustrations. However, it is a task that is also full of excitement, wonder, and joy. I strongly believe that all children are capable of learning, if they have the proper motivation and direction from their teachers. I strive to create a warm, caring classroom environment that encourages children to step out of their comfort zone, challenge themselves and take risks. I let them know that learning can be messy, mistakes will be made, but that is how we learn.
