Curriculum
Below is an overview of what students are learning:
Fifth Grade Social Studies:
Students will begin the school year learning geography skills. After, we will start to identify how our earliest human civilizations began. Students will explore how humans developed important life skills, tools, agriculture, technology, and faith, just to name a few. We will also study important empires that have played a critical part of our world's history. All middle school students will receive a Social Studies textbook. In each chapter we will learn new vocabulary terms that coincide with that particular area of study. We will incorporate many exciting activities and projects.
Sixth Grade Social Studies:
In sixth grade, students will study world history. Some major areas of study include Middle Ages, Renaissance, etc., and how our Catholic faith has played an integral roll in history. Map skills, projects, and activities will be incorporated throughout the school year. In each chapter we will learn new vocabulary terms that coincide with that particular field of study. All students will receive a Social Studies textbook.
Seventh Grade Social Studies:
This year, students will study US History. We will begin with learning about the Native Americans, pilgrims, wars, formation and framework of the USA, Bill of Rights, Constitution, branches of government, early presidents, etc. All students will be learning vocabulary terms from each chapter. Each student will receive a Social Studies textbook. Projects, research, and technology will be incorporated throughout the school year.
Eighth Grade Social Studies:
Students in eighth grade will study the history of the United States beginning with the Civil War, effects of slavery, World War I, Great Depression, WWII, Holocaust, etc . Map skills, projects, and activities will be incorporated throughout the curriculum. All students will receive a Social Studies textbook.
