Our adopted reading program is Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, HMH for short. The complete reading book can be found on Stow's CLEVER page. Students can access their text online or in our print workbook. This is a great program as most of the stories are "real" books, which will hopefully inspire students to read even more!
Students will also be involved in small group book clubs throughout the year which are designed to help foster the love of reading by discussing the literary elements and big ideas they discover with their small groups.
Reading is a big deal in fifth grade! I want to see students reading not only for school work, but for enjoyment as well, and I am more than happy to help with book suggestions for our school library or even the SMFPL ! I want to see every single student moving forward in their reading/writing skills this year!
