Active Participation

    • Students participate actively and regularly in a wide variety of physical activities and demonstrate an understanding of factors that can influence and support their participation in physical activity.Students demonstrate an understanding of the importance of being physically active, and apply physical fitness concepts and practices to improve the level of activity.

    • Students demonstrate responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others.

Movement

    • Students perform movement skills, demonstrating an understanding of the basic requirements of the skills.

    • Students apply movement strategies appropriately, demonstrating an understanding of the components of a variety of physical activities, in order to enhance their ability to participate.

Theory

    • Students demonstrate an understanding of a variety of games, sports and activities

    • and apply concepts in order to enhance their ability to participate.

Health Units

    • Students demonstrate an understanding of factors that contribute to healthy development and sexual health.

    • Students demonstrate the ability to apply health knowledge and living skills to make reasoned decisions and take appropriate actions relating to relationships, healthy eating, substance use and injury prevention

    • Students demonstrate the ability to make connections that relate to health and well-being – how their choices and behaviours affect both themselves and others, and how factors in the world around them affect their own and others’ health, well-being and safety.

LEARNING SKILLS ASSESSMENTS

Reporting also includes learning skills assessment, these appear on the report card with a mark of E(Excellent), G(Good), S(satisfactory), N(Needs Improvement). below are the expectations for each assessment category.

Responsibility - staying on task, being responsible for self, requires minimal direction

Organization - arrives to class on time, in full uniform

Individual Work - strives for personal best, participate actively

Collaboration - participates in small and large group activities, respect choices for all group members

Initiative - seek clarification, volunteers, actively participates in new learning situations, shows leadership
