For the full details on tenure, please see the Saint Louis University Faculty Manual (page 12)
A faculty member who is hired on a tenure-track appointment is considered to be in a probationary period subject to the rights contained in the Faculty Manual. The probationary period expires at the end of the completion of the eighth year of service for faculty members in the School of Medicine.
Tenure is normally associated with the ranks of Associate Professor and Professor.
It is the responsibility of the faculty member to apply for tenure prior to or during the final year of the probationary period.
Candidates for tenure are required to submit to their external reviewers their self-selected five most significant papers or five most significant contributions to their field. External reviewers should speak to the relevance/significance of these papers/contributions to the field.
