Santa pays a visit to children in Allenville
by Elane Moonier Staff Reporter - Cash Book Journal
The bright spirit of Christmas was shining in the eyes of the children in the tiny community of Allenville, MO last Saturday when Santa stopped in to visit them at a surprise party. Excited youngsters filled the Town Hall and showed their enthusiasm when Santa arrived on the neighboring town’s fire truck, slightly damp from the rain. This special party for the children was organized by Jim Greathouse of Saint Louis University and other who volunteer with the Iron Mountain Railroad. This is the second year the event has taken place. Santa presented every child with several gifts and visited with them individually. Refreshments were provided for everyone present, and included cookies, cupcakes, candy, drinks and snacks. In addition to their gifts, every child received a treat bag with fresh fruit and other treats as well. Several members of the Allenville community assisted with preparations for the party. They are Amanda Deckard, Darlene Thompson, Mia Anglin, and others. Jim said that plans are to make the Christmas party a regular event each year because it has been so well received by the residents of Allenville.
