GHLC- 113: Teaching Health Sessions to ESL Adults at New American Preparatory Academy
Course Description: Medical student will serve as educators on various health topics. The population they will be working with will be international refugee ESL adults. The first 3 sessions will be on the following topics: exercise, health and stress management. The last 3 sessions will be self-designed based on the needs the students will see during the first 3 sessions.
Elective Goals: Students will establish a long term relationship with the ESL adults and hopefully gain insight on how to work with diverse populations. This experience will enable medical students to understand the challenges associated with immigrating to a new country as a refugee.
