Write three thoughtful questions you’d like to ask one or more main characters in the novel you are reading. Make sure your questions are ones that would require some “deep” thought to answer. You ONLY need to write the questions, but I encourage you to think about how the characters would answer them.
What is your relationship with Mike Deluca like now that you are best friends with Penn Webb? (Crash
What types of activities were you and the other kids able to do in the cave during winter? (Maroo)
Will Penn and Crash run in the Penn Relays together next year, and will they win they are both on the relay team?

Write a minimum of three sentences. Here are some samples: “A character amused/surprised/scared/etc. me when…”; “A part of the book I found interesting was…”; “I have a feeling that __________ is going to _________ in a later part of the book because…”
A character that surprised me in the novel Crash was Penn Webb. I could see Penn falling for Crash's gag's and sarcastic humor as a young child, however, he seemed just as gullible on the first day of seventh grade. Mike Deluca was clearly making fun of Penn's clothes, and Penn didn't even seem to realize it. Also, the hand shaking Mike did with Penn was also very obviously not sincere, yet Penn seem delighted with the attention and genuinely happy to see Crash and Mike at school. These examples show that Penn Webb is quite gullible.

Include EXAMPLES that SUPPORT the connection.
A connection I had with the book Crash was Text-to-Text. The main character in Crash reminds me of the character Bradley Chalkers in the novel There's a Boy in the Girls Bathroom. Both characters bully other people. However, they do so for very different reasons. Crash bullies Penn Webb because he seems jealous that his family spends so much time together, and Penn seems happy despite the fact he has very few possessions. Crash is VERY materialistic, and his parents are seldom home. Bradley Chalkers from There's a Boy in the Girls Bathroom has a very low self-esteem and assumes anyone he meets will not like him. As a result, Bradley does something mean to people as soon as he meets them so that they'll hate him before they get to know him. For example, when the new kid as school is friendly to him, Bradly says, "Give me a dollar or I'll spit on you." This shows that Bradley wants Jeff to hate him before Jeff can decide that he doesn't like Bradley. This shows that Bradley and Crash are both bullies but for different reasons.
