What is the Home Academy Association? The Home Academy Association (HAA) is the parents group of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Academy. It is made up of all of the parents/guardians of children who attend the school. The Home Academy Association (HAA) helps support the school's mission of providing a quality education for all its students. We do this by organizing memorable events throughout the year for the school community (ie. Halloween Bash, Christmas Party, and Card Party). Additionally, the HAA engages in fundraising activities through events, raffles and actively seeking donations that provide valuable funds to the school. How can I get involved? Each of us has unique talents, abilities and skills that help make SJWCA the wonderful community that it is. You can get involved by becoming a class parent, volunteering at an upcoming event, proposing or organizing an event, attending class trips, sharing your views/ideas at an upcoming HAA meeting, donating/obtaining goods for raffles/events, facilitating an after-school club and more. Please keep in mind that in order to volunteer at events at which SJWCA children are present you need to be VIRTUS trained. For more information see "What is Virtus Training: below. If you do want to get involved, a good place to start is by reaching out to your class parent or to the HAA board. What are service hours? In the Roman Catholic tradition service is one of our most important responsibilities. St Joseph the Worker Catholic Academy cherishes and upholds this tradition. ![]() What is Virtus Training? All individuals that work with students/childen at SJWCA must be VIRTUS trained. This includes volunteers at special events, those chaperoning field trips, working at bake sales, etc. VIRTUS training is a one time requirement that you do not have to renew or do again once completed. Completing VIRTUS allows you to volunteer for events your children are attending and gives you a better opportunity to complete service hours. For more information or to sign up for Virtus Training visit Who are the members of the HAA Board? The 2019-2020 HAA board is made up of the following members: Al Fiore (President), Courtney Wood (Vice President), Michele Ruggiero-Sheehan (Treasurer), Lidia Gonzalez (Secretary) & Lynn McKee (Parent Coordinator). The HAA Board members are elected via an election in which all parents/guardians of students at SJWCA are able to vote. Each individual elected serves a two year term. It is possible to serve consecutive terms. How do I contact the HAA Board? You can e-mail the HAA board at: HAA@sjwca.org. |
