Academics

At SSEP, we dedicate some time to academics. Our students are given time to work on assigned summer assignments (given by grade level teachers) in preparation for the upcoming school year.

Summer work assigned usually consists of ELA, Math, and Reading. Grades K-4 are assigned Summer Gear Up to the Next Grade work in Mosaic by ACT, also known as ScootPad. This platform also allows for Spelling practice.

The ScootPad Personalized Summer Program is designed to help students retain their math and reading proficiency while preparing them for the next grade level. Research shows that students lose 2-3 months of grade-level proficiency during summer. We try to help prevent the summer slide!

Grades 5-8 assignments will include ELA and Math. They will be given assignments in ALEKS (an online learning platform for math). Grade level literature and book reports are part of the summer assignments.
