During library time your child will be working on some of the following district technology expectations:
Kindergarten will be starting computer use on the week of 10/28.
Turn the computer on and off (We've been working on this)
Navigate the mouse/track pad Students are getting pretty good at using the track pad!
Locate and use the arrow keys (Several of the sites they are using require use of arrow keys)
Locate and use the space bar (Many of the sites require space bar usage)
Locate and use the return key (IXL uses the return after they have answered each question)
Locate and use the delete key
Open and close programs We've been using IXL and Starfall. Students can open, log in and close out of these programs.
Use personal safety on the computer
Use computer etiquette
Log on and log off of computer programs (I'm so impressed at how well the kindergarteners are logging on and off of their programs!)
Take care of the computer (We have been working all year at taking care of computers. They are doing a nice job!)
1st Grade we’ve been learning to log into the computer lab.
Type in the URL We've been having fun with "Fishing for Phonics."

Students have typed a paragraph using Pages and formatted it using my directions to learn how to use all of the listed guidelines.
Create folders Students have created a folder on their desktop to save all of their library creations in.

4th Grade

Include a blind copy in e-mail Students used the program TrueFlix and e-mailed a friend a fact learned about the Titanic. They sent Mrs. Miller a Blind copy)

Students are currently creating Keynotes on a NE State that goes along with what they are studying in the classroom.

This year students in 5th and 6th Grade are learning keyboarding skills using www.typingweb.com They each have their own log-ins and their progress is being monitored. We worked the entire first trimester on keyboarding.

Introduction to the ins and outs of plagiarism and copy and paste We have been working on plagiarism. Students are learning to cite their sources and what can happen if they don't. They are learning about making a bibliographic entry and will soon be practicing note taking learning about sources that are royalty free to use.
