Maureen Smyth, School Librarian:
Ms. Smyth has served as SHR's school librarian since 2008. Before coming to South, she worked as a librarian at Rutgers University, Princeton Public Library and Gill St. Bernard's School. Past professional experience includes 17 years in the archaeology and museums fields. A graduate of Rutgers University with a BA in Archeology and Anthropology, she holds an MA in Archeology from Boston University and an MLIS from Rutgers University. She is the co-author of Teaching the Scientific Literature Review: Collaborative Lessons for Guided Inquiry (2nd ed., 2014), which received the 2010 Research Award from the NJ Association of College & Research Libraries. Ms. Smyth is an avid reader, especially sci-fi and mysteries. She is interested in tech in education, food, travel, film, and dogs.

SHR research resources include 17 databases and 3 eBook collections, as well as print books. Access to Hunterdon County Libraries databases are also available.
Recreational and independent reading is supported through print books, eBook collections, and inter-library loans from Hunterdon County Libraries.
The fiction collection was genrefied in 2019, with fiction being assigned and placed in one of 17 genres (Adventure, Classics, Espanol/Spanish, Fantasy, Graphic Novel, Graphic Non-Fiction, Historical Fiction, Horror, Humor, Mystery, Quick Reads, Realistic Fiction, Romance, SciFi, Sports, Supernatural, & Verse Novel).
The library hosts enrichment programs such as "crafternoon," pin-back button making, Game Zone day (board & card game collection), "blind date with a book," reading promotion contest, Halloween read-aloud, online book fair, Global Traveling Mural Project, digital games (book-related scavenger hunts, SHR Wordle, trivia contests, etc.), StoryCorp, and more!
Library clubs include: the Library Squad (student ambassadors and volunteers) and the Tabletop Game Club (Dungeons & Dragons, chess, Magic the Game and other tabletop board and card games).
