B.Y.O.D. (Bring Your Own Device)
Shenendehowa is committed to providing a 21st century learning environment that includes integration of technology in the classroom. The district is providing a district-wide guest wireless network where students in Grades 6-12 may use their personally owned devices. Electronic devices owned by many of our students, including smart phones, tablets, laptops, e-readers or any device operating on a wireless network, can be used to supplement their learning. Allowing students to use their personal devices as part of the instructional program leverages the power of Cloud computing in the classroom.
What does BYOD look like?
Students are permitted to use their personal devices in class for instructional purposes as long as it is connected to the district provided SHEN-BYOD Wireless Network. BYOD devices may not be used on personal data plans . BYOD and district provided devices won't be used every hour or in every class. Teachers in collaboration with administrators, make the final decision for any tools used in the classroom and should communicate their expectations to students and parents.
Students are permitted to use their devices for the purpose of:
Accessing filtered websites
Tracking classroom assignments
Monitoring the Infinite Campus portal
and other approved instructional activities
