Graduation Requirements

STUDENT CLASSIFICATION

In order to be classified for the various grade levels in high school, students must have earned the following minimum number of academic credits.

FRESHMAN = 0 CREDITS

SOPHOMORES = 6 CREDITS

JUNIORS = 12 CREDITS

SENIORS = 18 CREDITS

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

Twenty-four (24) credits are required for graduation from Shawnee High School. The following credits must be earned in order to be eligible for graduation:

English 4 credits Science 3 credits

Economics ½ credit Math 3 credits

Dr.Education ½ credit Health ½ credit

P.E. 4 credits Fine/Vocational Arts 1 credit

History 1 credit Keyboarding/Comp. Concept 1 credit

Government 1/2 credit

Effective with the 2019-2020 school year, juniors and seniors are required to complete 8 hours of community service each of these two years as a graduation requirement. The required form is on Mrs. Marks's main page or see her for a copy. DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THIS REQUIREMENT IS CURRENTLY BEING WAIVED.

Beginning with the 2020-2021 school year, seniors are required to complete the FAFSA or a FAFSA waiver in order to graduate. See Mrs. Marks's main page for FAFSA information.
