Bill Underwood - Varsity Head Coach
Coach Underwood is a graduate of Tallmadge High School, Akron, Ohio and continued his education and playing career at Kent State University. While at Kent State he was recognized as an All - Mid-American Conference performer 3 years including 1990 Freshman of the Year and 1992 Conference Pitcher of the Year. Upon completion of his college playing career, Coach Underwood was drafted by the New York Yankees and played professionally for 3 years.
After receiving his teaching certificate and Master's degree in education from Alvernia University in 2006, Coach Underwood has held various teaching positions in the Wilson District. He was at Lincoln Park Elementary school from 2006 – 2010, and since, has taught 6th grade at both at Wilson Southern and West Middle Schools.
Coach Underwood has been coaching baseball with the Bulldogs since 2005, and since 2012 has been a head coach for Wilson's middle school basketball program.
Currently, Coach Underwood resides in Sinking Spring with his wife, Kim. He has three grown children - Jacob, Bryn, and Reagan.
Adam Smith - Varsity Assitant Coach
Coach Smith is a graduate of Pen Argyl Area High School, Pen Argyl, PA and continued his education and baseball career at Northampton Community College. After receiving his Associate's Degree in Education, he continued to Kutztownff University where he graduated and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a social studies concentration in 2012.
After receiving his teaching degree, Coach Smith spent four years at various teaching positions before landing permanently at Wilson in 2016 where he teaches 9th Grade US History II.
Coach Smith started his coaching career as a Junior Varsity pitching coach at Nazareth High School in 2012 and then to Varsity pitching coach in 2013 and 2014. Coach Smith has been coaching with the Bulldogs since 2015.
Coach Smith currently resides in Wyomissing with his wife, Sarah, and two young children.
Mike Zientek - Varsity Assistant Coach
Coach Zientek is a 1982 graduate of Exeter High School where he lettered in baseball 4 years. Mike is a 1986 graduate of Penn State University - University Park and holds a BS degree in Ceramic Science and Engineering.
Coach Zientek has been coaching American Legion baseball in Berks County since 1989 and is currently a coach for the West Lawn Owls. He has also served on the baseball coaching staff at Penn State Berks as an assistant coach. Along with his coaching duties Coach Zientek is currently a member of the Youth Legion Baseball Committee for the state of Pennsylvania. In 2014, Mike was recognized and inducted into the PA American Legion Sports Hall of Fame.
Coach Zientek has in has been an assistant coach with the Wilson varsity baseball squad since 2015.
Coach Zientek resides in the Wilson School District with his wife Kim and has three grown children Samantha, Sophie, and Ethan
Zac McGillan - JV Head Coach
Coach McGillan is entering his first season on the high school baseball coaching staff. He graduated in May 2023 from Davis and Elkins College, an NCAA Division 2 school in the Mountain East Conference in Elkins, West Virginia, where he majored in Mathematics and minored in Secondary Education. At Davis and Elkins College, Coach McGillan was a four-year starting right-handed pitcher and led the Mountain East Conference in strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.20) during the 2021 season. Prior to his collegiate career, he was a four-year letterman in baseball at Ephrata High School. On the baseball field, Coach McGillan was an integral part of the Mountaineers' success from 2015-2019, including multiple appearances in league, district, and state playoffs. That success included 2016 Lancaster Lebanon League Section 2 Champions, 2016 PIAA District 3 Champions, 2018 Lancaster Lebanon League Section 2 Champions, 2018 Lancaster Lebanon League Champions, and 2018 PIAA District 3 Champions. Currently, Coach McGillan teaches 6th Grade Mathematics in the Wilson School District
Randy Kostelac - JV Assistant Coach
Coach Kostelac has been with the high school baseball program since 2022. He is a graduate of Big Spring High School where he played football and baseball, and continued his education and athletics at Lebanon Valley College where he was a 3-year letter winner, and team captain on the football team. After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Coach Kostelac began his employment at Redner’s Markets Inc in the summer of 1999. Randy is currently the Director of Training for Redner’s and enjoys all of the different aspects of his job within the Human Resources department. Over the past 8 years, Coach Kostelac has been involved in coaching baseball at all levels within the Wilson Youth Baseball Program as well as the Van Reed Football program. Randy currently resides in Wernersville with his wife, Melissa and 3 children, Colby, Landon, and Lyla.
John Scolastico - Assistant Coach
Coach Scolastico is a 1989 graduate of Reading High School and was a starting catcher for the Red Knights as well as the Gregg Post Legion team. He graduated from Alvernia University in 2002 with a degree in Criminal Justice. While at Alvernia, he played baseball for and was a member of the 1991 team that was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame. Since 2004, John has worked as an Assistant Chief for the Berks County Adult Probation and Parole Department. In 2016, he earned his Masters in Business Administration from Alvernia University. That same year he began coaching at Wilson as the West MS Head Coach. During the 1990’s, he coached at Northwest and Northeast Jr High for the Reading School District. Since 2011, he has coached in the Wilson Youth Baseball and Softball organization and is currently the league president. Coach Scolastico lives in Sinking Spring with his wife Jen, owner of Shear Envy salon, and two children Nicholas and Isabelle.
