L3 Harris STEM Challenge

Overarching Goal:

The goal of this partnership, the lessons, and the culminating challenge is to expose students to STEM and engage them in real world experiences.  The lessons and challenges are designed to expose students to high demand career skills and provide rich learning opportunities in the classroom.

Project Summary: 

In order to respond to the needs of today's teachers, students, families, and employers our schools need to engage students in STEM activities that reflect both learning standards and real world application.  We will expose students to STEM in two ways: Quality STEM lessons in the classroom, and a L3Harris Design Challenge held as a culminating event.  STEM activities, challenges, and lessons instill skills and knowledge that allow students to be innovative, collaborative, critical thinkers, and problem solvers.  The L3Harris STEM Challenge will offer a way to showcase the skills students have developed throughout the school year. Each challenge will align with the following skills; Collaboration, Communication, Coding, and Creating (Engineering).  These opportunities will build a culture of leadership and creative thinking in students that will extend well into future education and career opportunities.

7th grade: April 9, 2025

and 

8th grade: April 10, 2025

Where: ESF in Viera
