Speakers Bureau
Seattle Chapter SAR Speakers Bureau
The purpose of the Seattle Chapter's Speakers Bureau is to act as a public relations arm of our Chapter to expand the knowledge of the community about historical, educational and patriotic goals of the Sons of the American Revolution. A major effort is made to educate children about our country's past so they are aware of the sacrifices their forefathers made to free the people from the bondage of the British Empire and establish this new nation, The United States of America. Some speakers wear Revolutionary War Uniforms or period clothing.
Our Chapter provides a pool of qualified writers and speakers available to promote the goals of the National Society through formal public presentations. Over the months our Speakers' Bureau will developed presentations on many subjects. These presentations have different lengths so they can fit in with the time allocated. It works best when groups requesting speakers make arrangements directly with the speaker. For a current list of topics and speakers see the bottom of this page.
Our Seattle Chapter Speakers Bureau is designed to inform people about the Sons of the American Revolution. Chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Children of the American Revolution can also be a good audience for programs, using our developing resources. Speakers are provided to schools, organizations, public meetings, graduations, forums, to radio and TV stations (especially on patriotic holidays and anniversaries), genealogical and historical societies, Rotary , Masonic Lodges, Kiwanis, American Legion Posts, Church Groups, Veterans Groups, Military Groups, and other community service groups. This is our opportunity to make an impact on the knowledge of the SAR in our local community.
It is desirable to promote the tenants of historic, educational, and patriotic activities of our noble organization. This can be further enhanced by our active participation in speaking to organizations who may not know about the Sons of the American Revolution or what we do. Once an organization provides an opportunity for us to be on their program, the Speakers Bureau will provide the program.
Where possible, our speaker is encouraged to wear a colonial period uniform but this is not an absolute requirement. The uniform always gets attention and adds to the nature of our organization.
The SAR only facilitates the contacts between the speakers and the groups addressed. The speakers speak as individuals and their views do not necessarily reflect or represent the position of the Sons of the American Revolution.
