About Mrs. Barr

Raised in Cardiff as the 4th of 5 children, she attended Oak Crest Middle School and SDA. An interesting fact is she was Miss Teen San Diego 2004 (winnings included a great scholarship for college)! Mrs. Barr started at UC Davis as an international agricultural development major (animal science meets environmental economics). However, after an internship in Bolivia where she realized the only way to get ahead in life and have opportunities is through education, she switched her major to MATH and started her journey to become an award-winning teacher ( Teacher of the Year Mendocino County 2014 and Teacher of the Year Earl Warren 2018).

Mrs. Barr lives in Carlsbad with her husband and dog Pi (she is irrational, doesn't know when to stop, and has infinite love). She enjoys cooking, baking gluten-free treats, reading, and outdoor activities. You can usually find her going on long walks with her dog and baby daughter, Shellsea aka Shelly (turning 1 at the end of September), hitting the beach, zoo, library or playground with her girls.

Mrs. Barr's motto: Do YOUR very best and be nice to EVERYONE (including yourself)!
