NCAA.org recruiting (Spring Jr year register)
This is a great website to help you get started with clearinghouse information.http://www.athleticscholarships.net/ncaa-clearinghouse.htm.
You can create your own account and it will help you through the process, providing you with the information and steps necessary to prepare you and your child for college athletics.
http://www.ncaa.org/student-athletes/resources/recruiting-calendars
1. See their academic counselor about their goals and see if academics and test scores are in line with their objectives. Visit and register for the NCAA Eligibility Center if applicable.
2. Contact the college coach with a specific email (or phone call) expressing potential interest. College coaches greatly prefer hearing directly from the individual player, rather than his or her parents.
3. Provide the college coach with a detailed schedule of tournaments they will participate in. As the tournament approaches follow up with a schedule of games, date, time, field and player jersey number.
4. Encourage the player to follow up after the tournament with a phone call. It might be useful for you to provide a phone script to help the player fight through their nerves with this call. Please inform the player that depending on their year in school the college coach may or may not be able to call back but can answer the phone.
The following are critical dates for all student-athletes with collegiate sport aspirations.
Men and Women Division II - ALL SPORTS:
There is no limit on the number of calls by college coaches beginning June 15th before your junior year. No call, you are not currently on the radar.
You may make official visits to a DII school starting June 15th before your junior year. You may make up a maximum of five official visits to DI colleges. There are no limits to official visits to D-III schools.
Men and Women Division III - ALL SPORTS:
There is no limit on the number of calls or when they can be made by the college coach. You may make official visits starting the opening day of classes your senior year. There is no limit to official visits to Division III colleges.
