Tuesday, August 28

Day 3-Prep Work for Class Discussions

We will go to computer lab F-221 for group discussion work. You will have one class period to put together a presentation on your article. Follow the template Mr. Fleming shared with you.

Tomorrow-the rest of class (beside the presenting group) will read article 1 in class and respond with FF #5. Students can write about the topic of the article, stylistic choices, or anything else that comes to mind. These should be at least a few sentences long. Students in this group should merely write "I am in group #1." The rest of class will have 15 minutes to complete the reading and the response.

The group presenting the article should present their roles and findings to the class. This should take no more than 10 minutes.

Afterwards, the group will present discussion prompts can be either about the content of the article OR the stylistic decisions made by the author (or both!) The group should have a minimum of four open-ended (not easily answered) questions to share with the class. The group will call on people and lead the discussion. Mr. Fleming may or may not jump in from time to time. Over these days, a participation grade will be given for effort in class for your time as both as presenter and active audience member. This should take about 10 minutes.

If time permits, we will begin the article 2 and the associated activities.
