Hi, I am Ms. Rushing and this is my seventh year as a part of the West Campus family! I was born and raised in beautiful, foggy Humboldt County. I attended University of California, Santa Cruz and received my Bachelor's of Science in Astrophysics in 2013. I then moved to Sacramento and started down the path to becoming a teacher. I was accepted into the University of California, Davis Teacher Credential Program in 2015 and began student teaching with Mike Hotell at West Campus for the 2015-16 year. With the need for a physics teacher at West Campus mid-year, I began teaching full time during my credential program. I received my Science Teaching Credential with focus in physics, earth science, and chemistry in June 2016. I then researched how to help students improve on writing scientific explanations by using student evaluations of explanations and received my Master's Degree of Education from UC Davis in March of 2017!
I love being an active part of the West Campus community. In the past, I have been club advisor for Freestyle Dance Club, Singing Club, Chinese Culture Club, and co-advisor for the Green Team. I got to participate on a service-learning trip with students in the summer of 2018 as we traveled to Ecuador. I was a co-advisor for The Class of 2021! Red Legacy!
In my own time, I love to read, spend time with my cats, cycle, and hike! I love all things Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings.
