Family

Family Friendliness

Family involvement is a key contributor to student success. Your family is a valued part of the educational team. We want you to feel welcome and help us contribute to your child's progress towards becoming lifelong learners.

We proudly extend an open invitation to you to come and observe your child's scientific progress. If you are scientifically inclined you may even want to participate by sharing your knowledge and expertise with us.

Volunteerism

Laboratory supplies and funds are always limited. We do a good job of looking for resources and you can be assured your child's needs will be properly addressed. Our investigations, laboratories, and practice activities are properly stocked. We take safety seriously and students are instructed on safe and correct laboratory procedures. There is always room for improvement, however, and we welcome your input. The best way to find out what we need is to listen to your child. You may hear things like, "we have to take turns because we only have one of..." or "If it were mine I could experiment with it further..."

Direct Communication

The fastest way to contact me is through the school's switch board (386) 935-5600. I am usually at school very early making sure all the activities are properly set up before the school day begins. This is a fun job, filled with activities, so I'm never really idle while I'm at school. I cannot have a proper meeting with you while classes are in session, but I am available during the following: 7:45-8:00, after 15:05, lunch 12:45-13:10, and during planning 14:10-15:00

The most secure and private method to contact me is through an e-mail. You may send me an e-mail at carlos.diaz@suwannee.k12.fl.us or a simple message through the contact form in this website. I do not check for e-mails during class sessions and rarely between class sessions. My classroom is a student-centered environment. Students are also not allowed to interact with .

Our classroom is connecting through an app called Remind (class code @ag77ce). This is an excellent way to obtain classroom news right on your phone. Branford High School has also set up a school wide messaging system. You can download written instruction on how to install the app on your smartphone or regular phone by clicking on the respective file: Carlos_Diaz_Remind_Invite.pdf or Branford_Remind_Invite.pdf

Resources

Student grades and progress reports can be found in FOCUS. if you are unfamiliar with how to set up an account to access Focus as a parent, there is an access form for parents that you can fill out. Parents are important to us. I invite you to see what resources our county has to offer by visiting our county wide parent resources web page which you can access by clicking here.

Details of classroom activities are in CANVAS. Assignments, quizzes, calendar, syllabus, rubrics, due dates, student resources and other classroom information are found in your student's account.

Branford High School is a part of Suwannee County public school system.
