Homework Policy

Your kindergartner will have homework Monday through Thursday. They will have an alphabet practice paper and a math paper to complete each night. The homework papers can be found in the pocket of your child's folder (the one labelled "papers for school.). The expectation is that your child will complete the homework each night and place completed homework in the back into the back pocket of the folder. It is highly recommended that you set up a homework routine. This involves deciding on the same place and time that homework will be done each night. Although we do not want parents to “do” their child’s homework, it is expected that the parents help their child with their homework each night.

Some homework “rules” to keep in mind:

  • pictures should be done in crayon, marker or colored pencils

  • any words should be done in pencil

  • homework should be neat

  • your child should not go ahead and do extra homework (they should complete only the assigned night’s homework)

  • If the homework contains errors, the homework will be returned on Friday nights to be corrected on the weekend (If there are no errors, homework is filed at school)

  • If homework is not completed, your child will have to complete it at his/her playtime

  • If homework not being completed becomes a pattern, I will contact you to come in for a parent/teacher conference

Homework allows your child to practice skills he or she has learned at school and to develop academic responsibility. Please be a partner in your child’s homework journey!
