Test/Quiz Retake Policy and Steps

Sirinek’s Test/Quiz Retake Procedure

(Available for Beginning Algebra and Geometry)

(Calculus students are allowed one retake per semester/(quarter in block schedule))

(Tech Math students will earn no higher than a C in the class if a retake is taken)

The ultimate goal is for you to master all of the concepts that we learn this year. Many of the concepts build on each other, so mastery is required for success. Please always strive to do the best you can do and to master ALL concepts. NEVER be satisfied with a poor performance.

MUST HAVE TURNED IN ALL ASSIGNMENTS FOR THE UNIT TO RETAKE A TEST – YOU WILL HAVE TO DO THEM IF YOU HAVE ANY MISSING

Step 1: Come in outside of class time and correct the mistakes on the first test/quiz (this can be before or after school). This is your first opportunity to ask questions on the concepts you did not master YET!

Step 2: Mr. Sirinek will give you some additional practice problems resembling the concepts that you still were struggling on so you can move toward mastery of the concept(s).

Step 3: After you finish the additional problems, check the answers to be sure you have now mastered the concept(s). Ask more questions on the problems you have wrong.

Step 4: Come in outside of class time and take a retake test/quiz. The retake test/quiz will cover ALL concepts from the sections/chapter, not only the concepts not initially mastered.

You can earn up to a 75% on the retake, provided you score at least a 75% on the retake.

You can also earn 10% higher than your first test score if your first score was higher than a 65%.

If you do worse on the retake, the lower score will stand. If you follow the above procedure, you will NOT do worse.

Example 1: You earn a 45% on the first test/quiz and you score an 85% on the retake. Your grade would change to a 75%.

Example 2: You score a 77% on the first test/quiz and you score a 95% on the retake. Your score would change to an 87%.

You have 5 school days from the day the scores are posted (the day after you take the test) to complete the above process. There are no deadline extensions. Do not wait until the last minute in case something comes up that was unforeseen!
