Warriors Stand for the Silent was started in 2012. Initially, four middle school teachers attended a Mentors in Violence Prevention training session to prepare for the implementation at the high school. During the MVP training, the message that bystanders could impact situations to prevent mistreatment of others encouraged the teachers to find a way to implement the program at the middle school. The first year we used MVP scenarios and techniques, however, found that the material was too mature for what we wanted to present to our middle school students. Using the MVP approach (students teaching students about bystander interactions), we developed a anti-bullying program (2013) that our 8th grade students (mentors) use to teach our 6th grade students.
During our WSFTS training in September, four teachers spend the day teaching our mentors about bullying and bystander interventions.
