Christa Biche

5th Grade Teacher

I started my career in marine biology and outreach education. I was a research diver for the University of New Hampshire studying sea urchins. Even though I am interested in science, I’ve always loved teaching. I’ve taught in many different types of settings. I’ve taught on boats, at camps, at colleges, and at elder hostels. I have taught kindergartners, college students, elderly people, and everything in between.

As a classroom teacher, I’ve taught fourth, fifth, and sixth graders in Colorado and California. This is my seventeenth year teaching at Pine Tree School. My favorite thing about teaching is watching my students grow in their confidence and love of learning. The most important thing to me is that all my students feel safe and respected in my classroom. This way everyone can grow and enjoy themselves.

Jess Royer

5th Grade Teacher

I grew up in Somersworth, NH and moved to the Valley as a freshman at Kennett High School. I graduated from Plymouth State University with a degree in Childhood Studies K-8. I worked in Bartlett for many years as a para, grade 3/4 classroom teacher and taught ESOL part time. I also taught 5th grade in Denmark, ME for a year. I have worked with kids of all ages in many different positions. This is my second year teaching at Pine Tree. My favorite thing about teaching is watching the kids grow as learners throughout the year! It is important to me that all students find their passion in learning. I love learning from the kids everyday.

Outside of school I wait tables all year round at Joseph’s Spaghetti Shed. I have worked there since I was in high school! I also worked as summer camp counselor for many years and took on the role of Assistant Director. I love spending time with family, being active, skiing, and traveling!
