Grading Procedures
Students will be allowed to demonstrate how well they are making sense of the mathematics in many ways. Below is the grading summary.
Homework and Responsibility (10%)
Homework assignments offer students opportunity to think about problems more in depth. Homework assignments are very important and are assigned just about everyday.
Students will have the opportunity to revise their answers as we discuss problems.
It is your responsibility that you attend class prepared. Having your homework is showing that you are prepared. Homework is graded as a 1 you completed your homework and showed your work or 0 your homework is not complete, you did not show your work.
Be sure to have all your needed supplies.
Formative Assessments (40%)
Assessments that gather information about students' learning that are used to track progress such as: warm-ups, class work, open ended questions, problem solving activities, worksheets and exit tickets.
Summative Assessment (50%)
Assessments that show what students have learned throughout the unit such as: projects, quizzes, concept checks and tests. Students will be asked to communicate their understanding and summarize the concepts learned.
Test Correction Policy
Test corrections will be allowed on a CASE BY CASE basis at the teacher's discretion.
Test corrections are designed for students who did poorly on an assignment, but have been up to date on all notes, activities and homework and need a second chance.
Test corrections are NOT for students to use as a second chance after every major assessment because they did not properly prepare for the assessment.
The maximum grade on a retake is 70%.
Students are encouraged to see me for extra help whenever they are having difficulty.
I will be available during skills.
Late Work:
If you do not have your homework the day it is due, you will receive a zero for that assignment. It is important that you have completed the assignment on time, this will allow you to have the ability to actively participate in the discussions and questioning that occur based on the homework.
All projects are expected to be handed in the day they are due.
