Teachers are like The Wizard of Oz because…

....our students already have brains and heart and courage. We simply create opportunities wherein they must use these things...that's how students find out how smart and caring and strong they really are.

...we're not larger than life--really! Behind that curtain, we're on journeys, too.

We don't teach subjects; we teach people.

Who we are and the values we live by are part of what a teacher teaches.

Teachers and students are always learning from and teaching each other.

I am often surprised when a student tells me I make learning fun or interesting because I think learning IS fun and interesting...I just try not to get in the way of that.

Learning is an amazing lifelong journey—and it’s important for teachers, guides in that journey, to be lifelong learners.
