Borrowing Policy

• All books are checked out for one week and must be returned by the student's next library day (Click the link to "Class Days" on the left to see when your library day is)

• Borrowed books are to be properly cared for. This means:

  • They are kept in their library book bag

  • They are kept in a safe place away from food, drinks, weather elements, animals and other sources of possible damage

  • They are used gently

• Please bring any damage to books to the attention of the librarian immediately to avoid being held responsible for the damage

• Students will NOT be allowed to check out books when they have past due books OR owe money for damaged books

• Students in grades 1 - 5 are responsible for placing their books in the book baskets each morning and making sure that they are returned BEFORE the time of library class in order to take out a new book

Please help your students to remember that while books are due back each library class, they are allowed, and encouraged, to come in to exchange books in between classes if they are ready for a new book. Students can come to the library before or after school each day, or during the school day when teachers allow. ASCL wants all students to have books to read at all times!
