Formative assignments include in class work, short writing responses (either completed for homework or done in class), rough drafts of essays, class participation (including individual, whole class and small group work and discussions).

Summative assignments include final drafts of essays, in class essay tests, vocabulary quizzes, group projects, individual projects, presentations, the midterm exam and the final exam.

Each quarter counts as 22.5% of the final grade.
