Mr. Sripada Pavan Pramod
2012 Batch – B. Tech. Chemical Engineering
Date of visit: 24-Feb-2015
In order to stimulate an enduring connection with the University's alumni and for the benefit of its students, an alumni interaction session was initiated by the IIChE Student Chapter of SASTRA University, wherein the former graduates are welcomed to have a congenial bond with their juniors and the University.
The first interactive session was held on 24th February 2015. One of our former student - Sripada Pavan Pramod of 2012 B.Tech Chemical Engineering batch addressed the students.
Sripada Pavan Pramod, an acclaimed student of SASTRA University completed his B.Tech in Chemical Engineering and graduated in 2012. He later joined University of Alberta, Canada to pursue Masters in Chemical Engineering and graduated in the year 2014. He engaged himself as research assistant (September 2012 - present) under Prof. Rajender Gupta, University of Alberta and also did his research internship at Indian Institute of Technology Madras (2011-2012). He has hands on experience in teaching and is planning to do his PhD in the years to come.
During his talk, he shared his bountiful knowledge and hard earned experience with the students.
He gave a brief insight into Clean Coal Technologies. Students had a glimpse of the most sought-after Canadian Universities. He enunciated about 'clean' coal, issues in coal utilization, Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) and its advantage over other technologies, challenges and opportunities available in the domain of CCS (Carbon capture and storage).
Following his presentation, there were few queries raised by the yearning students during the questioning session. Discussion on the admission procedure to be followed, the eligibility criteria, availing scholarships, cost of living along with the tuition fees were covered during the session. He also relinquished tips to write a prime SOP.
The session came to end with his amicable words: " It is always a pleasure to apply what you have learnt and this can be done only while doing Masters".
The Department of Chemical Engineering is looking forward to conduct such valuable sessions in near future.
