Bio

Welcome to my class!

My name is Laura Preisman and I am a native San Diegan (I even graduated from Muirlands and La Jolla High School). I did, however, leave California for my studies, where I earned a B.A. in English and French, as well as an M.A. in French and translation. I used these skills by working in higher educational environments, including working with Fulbright fellows, as well as for corporate computer companies, serving both as a trainer and a project manager.

While I enjoyed the travel and instructional aspects of my corporate positions, I found that my passion still remained in teaching. I then pursued and completed a teaching credential and an M.A. in education. Subsequently, I began teaching in the San Diego Unified School District, as well as private institutions.

In addition to teaching, I also advise students and adults on writing. I feel lucky that I am able to spend my time working with such a diverse group of students.

Outside the classroom, I love spending time with my family (husband, two daughters, and dogs). I enjoy running and going to the beach.
