You will need the following materials everyday:
Pencil (multicolored preferred)
Notebook (graph paper preferred)
Laptop with charger
Amplify- We use this website for interactive in-class activities. Click on the link on the homepage, sign in with Google using your SDUSD username and password, and type in the code I provided you in class. You only need to type in the code once.
Delta Math - We use this website for additional practice. You are given a series of randomly generated problems, and you need to answer them correctly. You can try as much as you want, but you need to get 100% on each assignment to earn full points.
Google Classroom - Here you can find a pdf of the notes we take in class, as well as the practice assignments and solutions. You do not need to turn in anything through google classroom, it's just so you can access the notes and practice. Let me know if you need to code.
Notebook - I highly recommend buying a graph notebook and getting multi-colored pencils, but those are not a requirement. A lined paper notebook will do. You need to bring it to class with you and take notes every day in pencil. Additionally, you will do your practice assignments in your notebook.
Practice Assignments - In order to excel in math, you need to practice. We call "homework" practice in this class. After all, it doesn't matter if it's done at home, in school, or anywhere else, it's just practice! Each lesson will have a practice assignment that you need to complete. I will be checking your notebook every Friday while you do your assessment and give you a grade out of 5 based on completeness. You do not need to turn in your assignments (unless it's a project), I will check your notebook and update powerschool. This is worth 10% of your final grade.
Assessments - We will have a quiz or a test every Friday. Tests will be given at the end of each unit. You may use your notebook for quizzes and a half sheet of notes (front and back) for tests. Assessments are worth 90% of your final grade.
Corrections - Do not throw away your assessments when you get them back. You can work on your corrections! Do the problems you missed points on either on another sheet of paper or on the assessment itself using a different color pen. Then, explain your corrections to me in person during class or at lunch. By doing corrections, you can get a quarter of your points back (Example: 76% -> 82%. Since in this situation the student missed 24 percentage points, a quarter of that is 6, so 76 + 6 = 82%)
Retakes - You may retake any quiz or test. You must first work on the corrections and turn that in to me. Once you do that, I'll give you another version of the test. The highest grade possible on a retake is a 76 (B-), so if you get higher than that your grade will be capped at a 76.
Math Lab - Here at Henry, math tutoring (aka the math lab) is offered in the library Monday-Thursday every day from 3:30-4:30. There are teachers and students who passed the course that can help you with your practice assignments and/or corrections. You can also go there if you need a place to work after school. My room during lunch is also available if you need any extra help.
