I am looking forward to a great year with you all! During the first week of school, we will be getting to know one another, going over procedures as well as starting the 3rd grade curriculum. The following guidelines will help make this an enjoyable and successful year for everyone. Thank you for your support and cooperation! ❤️
Students will develop a sense of responsibility by arriving at school daily and copying their homework. They will be responsible for checking their agenda and getting it signed each night. Homework will be very light (especially at the beginning of the year) as we ease back into school.
Please send in an absent note when your child returns to school. Missed lessons should be made up as soon as possible.
I will be happy to distribute invitations for you if all the boys, all the girls, or all the students are invited. We will be celebrating birthdays in school; you may drop off a treat for the class on their birthday or a day agreed upon.
Your child is an important part of our team and is encouraged to give his or her best effort, contribute to class discussions, and work cooperatively with classmates. We will spend time at the beginning of the year picking up where students left off and reviewing with them to help ensure everyone is where they need to be academically.
Communication between parents and teachers is important to your child’s academic success. I request that we meet to discuss your child's progress before the end of the first trimester. I also may be contacting you throughout the school year with good news as well as when improvement is needed. Please reach your teacher via Remind app, by phone (631-471-1840), or through e-mail at tmarks@sachem.edu
Please send in a note with your child if there is any change in the dismissal routine. If it is last minute, please call the office. (We do not check the Remind app or e-mail messages while teaching)
Please pack a healthy snack for your child each day. Please do not send in several items, it takes too long to eat and causes disruptions in routines and learning time. Please note that students will not be permitted to share food.
Your child should bring a take-home folder back and forth to school each day. This folder may contain notes, notices, homework sheets, study guides, and completed work. Please review items in this folder daily. Completed homework and any correspondence should be sent back to school in the take-home folder. Please save corrected classwork and homework sheets for your child to review for upcoming tests.
Tests are given periodically and are almost always announced in advance, and study guides are often provided. Please help your child prepare for upcoming tests. Graded tests in Math, Science, and Social Studies are returned in your child's Test Folder. Please sign and return the folder the following day. You may keep tests at home.
