Rush City High School vocal music program seeks to provide students of varying backgrounds, abilities, and interest levels a basic understanding of the art and science of music and to encourage students to exceed their own expectations as they develop and mature through their high school years so that they will be prepared to study music at colleges and universities and participate in choirs at such institutions. The vocal music program also seeks to develop students into wise music consumers, volunteer musicians, professional musicians and music educators who will enrich their communities' cultural life and heritage.

College graduates with music degrees are employed as: music educators, professional performers, community of faith worship leaders, studio teachers, music therapists, music software developers, arts administrators, accompanists, composers, arrangers, film score writers, recording and audio engineers, music publishers, instrument tuners/repairers and music library managers.
