Many of you will have seen Aly run all over Barbados at some point or another.
Aly has been a world-class endurance (ultra) runner for 15+ years. Notable achievements include setting the female record at the notorious Badwater 135 Ultramarathon (217 km) race in 2016, 2nd female at the Spartathlon Race (153 miles/246 km) in 2015, a PR of 14:42 over the 'classic' 100 mile (161 km) ultra distance in 2014 as well as a maximum distance of 148 miles in 24 hours in.
About 10 years ago, Aly and her husband Teddy (who is well known in the Barbados surfing community) moved to Barbados. Their three daughters were born here and they are currently renovating a property they recently purchased in Bathsheba.
Earlier this year Aly was asked (after meeting the qualifying standard in another race) to represent the U.S. National Team at the 15th IAU 24-Hour World Championships in Albi, France on 18/19 October.
Ultra distance running is still considered a fringe sport and national sporting associations do not usually pay for much more than the event entry fee and a team shirt or tracksuit.
